Hunter's Moon

from Dancing On A Volcano by Weimar

/

about

The first track of 'Side Two' of the album, this is a brooding Gothic Jazz tune inspired by classic Film Noir. I viewed this one as like something from the soundtrack to a Hitchcockian psycho-drama with the dark surrealism of David Lynch. The paintings of Edward Hopper were an inspiration here as well.

lyrics

Hunter’s Moon

The glimmer of streetlights
Confused as to what’s within
She made her promise
They say that she lives in sin
Has anyone heard this?

I thought I had noticed
That light in her window
I thought I had noticed
That movement in the shadows
Did anyone see this?

Standing isolated under Hunter’s Moon
The dollar bills, the scene of perfume
Magnolias, the red lamp shone bright
That look on her face as she slipped past the light
Did anyone see this?

I have a vague memory
Of that last night in Venice Beach
I remember her saying
That she was going to be out of reach
Did anyone hear this?

I seem to recall
Another man in the airport lounge
Something in her cases
Something she didn’t want found
Did anyone find this?
Perhaps someone found this?

Standing isolated under Hunter’s Moon
The dollar bills, the scene of perfume
Magnolias, the red lamp shone bright
That look on her face as she slipped past the light
Did anyone see this?

Standing isolated under Hunter’s Moon
The dollar bills, the scene of perfume
Magnolias, the red lamp shone bright
That look on her face as she slipped past the light
Names and faces like fragments of a dream
The whispers in the hallway
The sound of muffled screams
The motel clerk who denied she’d been there
The tracer bullet by a lock of her hair
Did anyone see this?

Has anyone heard this?
Has anyone heard this?
Has anyone heard this?
Has anyone…?
